Our team hand crafted 5 sets of these bookends to be sold at Walrus- a local gift store in the Cambie neighbourhood in Vancouver. We used Beech wood for its durable and beautiful grain to make the forms and bent aluminum for the slot in the front. A felt pad attached to the base gives it the friction it needed to hold up the books.

They are themed after the topology of the Twin Sisters (also known as the Two Lions) peaks of the North Shore mountains are always in sight, defining the landscape of the city.

The topography of the land is ingrained with stories narrated through its landmarks, language, and people. The names given to these topographies are a means to share conversations about the land.

We acknowledge that our design finds inspiration in the unceded, ancestral lands of the šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh) and Coast Salish peoples where the Twin Sisters reside.
